Meet Our Team

Norman D. Knowles, D.M.D.

Dr. Knowles was born in Fort Hood, TX, and grew up in Tampa, FL. He moved to Tallahassee after his parents took jobs there. While in Tallahassee, he attended high school at Alfred B. Maclay, a college preparatory school. After graduation, he attended Florida State University and transferred to the University of Florida in his junior year, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1986. He then attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree in 1990. In 1991, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (A.E.G.D.) Residency Program. He then worked as a Clinical Instructor in the Community Dentistry department of the University of Florida College of Dentistry.

Alejandra and his wife moved to Miami in 1992, where he practiced for seven years before moving to the Fort Pierce and Vero Beach area. While in Miami, he was an Assistant Professor in the Miami Dade Community College Dental Hygiene Program. In 2002, he purchased the dental practice of Dr. Richard Bancroft in Fort Pierce, where he practiced until 2017. He moved his practice to Vero Beach, where he now practices full-time. His son, Emilio, graduated from John Carroll Catholic High School, and now works for Pursuit Boats in Fort PierceFL. His daughter, Adriana, graduated from Fort Pierce Central High School and graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa with a BS in Health Science and is an LPN.

Dr. Knowles remains active in the community and enjoys family activities such as boating, wakeboarding, ATV riding, skateboarding, and shooting sporting clays. He also enjoyed playing bass guitar with local musicians and was a member of the 5-4s. Dr. Knowles is very interested in digital technology and its applications in dentistry and is an active member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Treasure Coast Dental Society, American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, Florida Society of Dental Anesthesiology, and the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He always strives to find better ways to produce better dentistry for his patients in the most relaxed, comfortable manner possible using the most modern, up-to-date materials.

Addy, Office Manager

Addy was born in Cuba and came to the United States when she was 9 years old. She started her career in dentistry in 2013. She knew immediately this would be her lifelong career.

She loves helping people, as well as making everyone smile. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two beautiful children and her husband, David.

Joseline, Front Desk

Joseline joined this team here at Art of Smiles in November 2018. Loves meeting and interacting with all our patients and watching as their smiles transform throughout their treatment. She loves working with the staff every day.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Xochitl, Lead Dental Assistant Art of Smiles in Vero Beach, FL

Xochitl, Dental Assistant

Xochitl received her Associate’s degree in Dental Assisting Technology & Management from IRSC in 2017. She has been with our team ever since. She enjoys seeing patients’ smiles transform, and seeing their happiness when big cases are complete.

In her spare time, she enjoys outings with her two children and husband.

Kat, Dental Hygienist

Kat is a very dedicated person who loves providing hygiene services to her patients. Her professionalism exemplifies what Art of Smiles is all about.

Kat graduated from Indian River State College with her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She became part of the team in 2019.
She has a passion for traveling the world and loves to spend time with her family and friends.

Meimei, Dental Hygienist

Meimei graduated from Indian River State College with an Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene in 2021. In 2018, she became part of our team and enjoys working with patients. She was born and raised in China and moved to Vero Beach in 2009.

Andrea, Dental Assistant

Andrea received her Dental Assisting Certificate in November of 2023. Even though she finished her schooling, “Every day is a learning experience,” as she states. Seeing patients walk out of the office with a smile from ear to ear makes her day. Andrea enjoys spending time with all her loved ones and can never get enough of them. She loves laughter, joy and happiness.

Jennifer Art of Smiles in Vero Beach, FL

Jennifer, Dental Assistant

Jennifer joined our team in December of 2019 as a dental assistant. Since then, she has learned so much about the dentistry world and enjoys transforming and improving everyone’s smile. The patient experience is her priority, and she works hard to ensure they feel comfortable in our office. Outside the office she loves spending every moment she can with her family and her son, Gabriel.
